Fiji List Serve
Recently we received an email describing the list serve idea dreamed up by the undergraduates as a way to foster better communications between the chapter and graduates as well as from us to them. Read what Brian has to say about the process and how you can join.
Graduate Brothers,
In the past the relationship between the active members of this chapter and its alumni has been rather limited. This has been the result of a lack of communication between graduates and undergraduates and a lack of organization and planning in the graduate relations committee both of which have caused a loss of interest between both graduates and actives.
However, it is our goal to improve the level of participation of graduate brothers, and will be making several changes which we hope will eliminate any barriers which previously hindered our relationship with alumni.
To help with the problem of communication we have created a graduate brother email list serve which already has 500 e-mail addresses. All of you who receive this email are part of a mass mail. We have established this list as part of several improvements that are being made to our graduate relations program. We will be sending out periodic updates on chapter and graduate news, including dates for events like Pig Dinner and alumni reunions. This can also be used by graduates to communicate with each other. By sending an email to aufiji@auburn.edu, you will be sending an email to all of your graduate brothers that are subscribed. If you are interested in receiving these emails you can do so for free by simply sending and email to majordomo@auburn.edu, leave the subject line blank, then type "subscribe aufiji" followed by your e-mail address in the body of the email. Although 500 names is a good start for this email list, it is only a fraction of our total alumni, so please encourage your fellow graduate brothers to subscribe to the list if they are not already receiving emails. This could be a very good way for graduate brothers to communicate with us and vice versa. We are planning several events other than Pig Dinner and one of the ways we plan on inviting you is through this email list, and while everyone will receive a notification in the mail about the event those that receive the emails will most likely know about them earlier. We are also currently working on improving the website by adding a graduate section which might include an address list for graduates, important dates, and graduate brother news and hopefully some other features which some of you may have suggestions for. I encourage you to visit the webpage at www.auburn.edu/fiji.All of this is addressed in this fall's issue of War Eagle Fiji, but I'd just like to reiterate that we really enjoy having alumni come by the house. Last Saturday after the Georgia Tech game a few alumni actually dropped by for the band party at the house and we really enjoyed getting the chance to talk to them. Please come by and eat during the week if you live in Auburn or are just passing through. I also encourage you to come by the house on game day, there's always a meal before every home game, and we would really appreciate you stopping by. Thanks for taking the time to read this, and if you have any suggestions for anything that concerns graduate relations or chapter business in general I would appreciate those. You can email me at shonebc@auburn.edu or call me at334-221-9420.

perge'Please give the idea your consideration. I personally think it is a wonderful idea for receiving quick comments notifying us of events we might want to consider. It also can be a vehicle where we could send emails to graduates notifying them of topics of general interest to graduate brothers recently graduated through some of the original members from the 60's.
